NGI Policy Summit 2020
28-29 September, Online Event
We are very excited to announce the NGI Policy Summit 2020, hosted by the City of Amsterdam and the European Commission’s Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative.
Bringing together a coalition of internet changemakers from 28-29 September, our Online Summit will explore how policy innovation, exciting new tools and citizen engagement can make the future of the internet more sustainable, democratic and inclusive.
Who is organising the NGI Policy Summit 2020?
The Summit is organised by the City of Amsterdam and Nesta, as part of the European Commission’s Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative. Our project has been tasked by the European Commission to set out an ambitious vision for the future internet, and identify the policy and technology building blocks we need to get us there. You can find out more about the project’s Policy Lab here. To learn more about the City of Amsterdam’s Digital Agenda, click here.
Who is the NGI Policy Summit 2020 for?
The Summit is aimed at policymakers at EU, national and local levels but we also welcome researchers, innovators and anyone who wants to help build a more human-centric internet. We are creating a space for participants to share knowledge and best practices and coordinate shared action towards common goals.
What is the format of the conference?
The Summit will take place over two days, with an additional day of fringe activity. Beyond keynotes from thought leaders and panels with political decision makers, the Summit will harness the collective intelligence of our wider audience in live and online discussions, interactive plenaries, and workshops.
What is the theme of the conference?
The Summit will explore three themes – visions for the future internet; empowering policy makers; and strengthening ecosystems – across a range of topics, from the environmental footprint of the internet to new models for the data economy. We will be announcing a more detailed programme soon.
